Free Diet Tips

In the past 30 years, obesity has been increasing at frightening rates. In the 34 countries that are a part of the OECD, half of the people are now overweight and one in six is obese. In America, obesity has skyrocketed by 60 percent over the past two decades. A shocking 68 percent of Americans are currently overweight, and 34 percent are obese. According to a study done at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, 58 percent of the world will be obese by 2030 if these trends continue. This is a horrible thought, because obesity leads to problems such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease, and studies have shown that people who are even slightly overweight are more likely to die early than people of normal weight.

If you don't want to be one of these statistics, you need to get control of your weight now. The following diet tips will help you do this so that you can live a long, healthy life.

TIP #1: SNACK RESPONSIBLY

Most of the time, we snack out of boredom rather than hunger. The next time you reach for a snack, ask yourself whether you are really hungry or just need something to do. If it is the latter, go for a walk, read a book or call a friend instead of eating. If you must snack, try to make healthier snacking choices. Instead of mindlessly eating a whole bag of chips while watching a television show, cut up some cucumbers and munch on them. Not only will you be consuming far fewer calories, but you will be giving yourself vital nutrients and fiber. In addition, try not to eat after dinner if you can help it.

TIP #2: DRINK YOUR WATER

Most people know that they should be drinking eight glasses of water a day, but very few people actually do it. When it comes to weight loss, however, it is essential that you drink your daily allowance of water. German researchers recently confirmed that drinking water speeds up the rate at which we burn calories. In addition, we often think we are hungry when we are actually thirsty, so getting a drink can help keep snacking at bay. Drinking water before meals can trick your body into thinking it's full, causing you to eat less. More importantly, water helps the kidneys function properly, which frees up the liver to metabolize fat.

TIP #3: EAT YOUR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

People often think of dieting in terms of what they should be giving up, but it is much more effective to think of it in terms of what you can add. Fruits and vegetables are high in fiber but low in calories, so they fill you up without making you fat. If you eat five to nine servings of fruit and vegetables a day, you will naturally consume less fat and fewer unhealthy foods. Additionally, fruits and vegetables are high in essential vitamins and minerals, so they help to reduce cravings caused by nutrient deficiencies.

TIP #4: TRY SOME AFRICAN MANGO

Some people have a hard time losing weight no matter how healthily they eat or how much they exercise. For these people, diet supplements can be a lifesaver. African mango, often sold as pills in the form of African mango extract, is a natural diet supplement that has been proven safe and effective by over 20 years of research. African mango extract suppresses appetite, boosts the metabolism, increases energy and burns fat, and it is far safer than traditional diet pills. African villagers have known about the medicinal properties of this tropical fruit for centuries, but it has only recently become widely available in the western world.
